TRACEY EMIN: THE DISTANCE OF YOUR HEART

22 March - 22 May 2018
Havilah, 61 Ocean Street, Woollahra NSW 2011
Strictly by appointment only

LoveArt is proud to present The Distance of Your Heart, a solo exhibition of new work by Tracey Emin. Opening in March 2018, the exhibition will coincide with the launch of Emin’s new commission for the City of Sydney that will punctuate the façade of Bridge Street with more then 60 bronze sculptures of small birds.

The exhibition will be held in Woollahra at the home of advisor, collector and Emin’s long-time friend, Amanda Love, the Director of LoveArt.

The Distance of Your Heart presents several new bodies of work including painting, bronze sculpture echoing the City of Sydney commission, and a new neon. Expanding on the poetic lyricism and sensitivity of the artist’s most recent work, the exhibition points to universal feelings of longing through the metaphor of Australia’s distance from the rest of the world and the loneliness and isolation that distance, of any kind, can engender. But Emin has often said that “birds are the Angels of the earth” and as such, their presence conjures hope and comfort as an antidote for the soul.

In conjunction with her exhibition, Emin will curate a selection of works from the Love Collection. These curated works include a mixture of existing paintings, embroidery, and small sculptures from the artist herself, as well as other complementary work by artists whom she relates.
